Meet the Professional Veterinary Staff of Pacific Animal Hospital
Whitney, Manager
Whitney joined the Pacific Animal Hospital team as a manager in May 2007. She has been working in veterinary medicine since 1991, bringing many years of experience to the hospital. She has a tremendous love for animals and their well-being. When she was a child, she would bring home all sorts of orphaned animals telling her mother that “they were hungry and had nowhere else to go,” therefore she just had to provide a home for them. Whitney worked as an emergency and specialty technician for many years, where she gained vast experience and knowledge in all aspects of specialty veterinary medicine, including surgery, internal medicine, oncology, radiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, emergency, and critical care. However, she chose to work in management because she felt helping in the overall operations of the hospital would provide the best opportunity for her to “make a difference in the lives of pets.” In her spare time, Whitney spends time with her two sons. She practices martial arts with her older son and enjoys the time they spend together and the discipline involved, but especially the exercise. Whitney has a large family that includes her dog, Kitana, and Gordo, Elvis, Mary, and Baggy (all rescued cats that never found their way to another home!). However, you will quite often find a “menagerie” at her home of orphaned feral kittens and cats that she has taken in until they are healthy enough to find suitable homes.
Susan, Client Service
Sue has been with Pacific Animal Hospital for more than 20 years. Sue chose veterinary medicine to help both people and their pet through difficult and challenging times. When not in the hospital, she enjoys time with her family and friends, outdoor activities, and reading. Her family at home includes a pug, Jake, and a cat, Miss B.
Linda, Client Service
Linda has been part of the Pacific Animal Hospital team since March 2008. Linda decided to work in veterinary medicine because she felt it would be rewarding and challenging at the same time. The highlight of her day is working with the clients and seeing the joy and satisfaction her job brings to them and their pets. Her goal is to continue to learn new things in veterinary medicine so she can provide the best care for people and their four-legged children. Outside of work, Linda enjoys spending time with her family (she has five children and three grandchildren, with more on the way) and her dog, Daisy.
Shawn, Lead Veterinary Technician
Shawn has been in the veterinary field for about 25 years and with Pacific Animal Hospital since 1993. She chose this business because of her lifelong love for animals and medicine. She loves seeing the bond between animals and their people and being able to see her efforts improve an animal’s life while educating our clients so they can keep their pets healthy. She enjoys working with a wonderful team of support staff and an awesome group of doctors. When not at work, she likes to garden and spend time with her husband, two children, and friends, as well as their two golden retrievers, Duke and Buster; two Scottish folds, Squishy Face and Freddie; two tortoises, Hulk and Speedy; two Guinea pigs, Patches O’Houlihan and Joy; and a Cockatiel named Blossom.
Jorge, Veterinary Technician
Jorge has been with Pacific Animal Hospital since 1995. He likes working with people and their pets. Veterinary medicine gives him the opportunity to help keep pets healthy. When not at the hospital, Jorge enjoys running, spending time with his family, and practicing martial arts.
Kelly, Veterinary Technician
Kelly has been in the veterinary profession since 1999. She enjoys caring for pets, continuing education, and “being part of an awesome team.” When not working, she spends her time with her family and friends enjoying outdoor activities, including hanging out at the beach, hiking, and traveling. Kelly and her husband have two precious daughters and a chocolate lab named Taylor.
Diane, Veterinary Technician
Diane has worked with pets since the mid 1990s. She finds the veterinary field very rewarding because “the patients give unconditional love.” In her words, she enjoys “a profession that is both challenging and helps make pets’ lives better.” In Diane’s spare time, she volunteers with the San Diego Humane Society Animal Rescue Reserve. She and her husband have Elvis, the Basset Hound; a pointer named Jerry, and a kitty named Maggie, who is gracious enough to allow them all to live in her home.
Daria, Veterinary Technician
Daria has been a veterinary technician since 2002. She earned her associates of science degree in veterinary technology from Foothill College. She chose this career because of her love of animals, science, and medicine. She enjoys her work because of the unconditional love she receives on a daily basis and because “every day is different and fulfilling.” Her main goals as a veterinary technician are to help educate owners about the proper medicine for their pets and to one day co-own her own hospital. Daria has worked at Pacific Animal Hospital since 2006, when she got married and moved to southern California from Northern California. Her own animal include four cats, Trinity, Lina, Ramsay, and Remo and two dogs, Capone and Athena. When away from work, Daria’s personal life consists of family time with her son, who was born on Halloween in 2008, and her wonderful husband. They enjoy days at the park, the beach, bike riding, wine tasting, and dog parks. Daria is also a Scentsy consultant and enjoys the time she gets to spend “with the ladies” during her Scentsy parties.
Kathy, Veterinary Technician
Kathy has been a veterinary technician since 1987. She has always had a love for animals and has been dragging poor, unsuspecting animals home as long as she can remember. She has three great kids: Bryan, Kaitlynn, and Hailey. Her pets include three dogs, six cats, two snakes, and two desert tortoises. When Kathy is not at work, she is worshipping the sun, reading, or listening to music.
Lani, Veterinary Technician
Lani has worked at Pacific Animal Hospital since the spring of 2010. She likes being able to send pets home happier than when they came in and getting to see all the families bringing in their newest additions. When she’s not at work, she reads, bakes, and hangs out with Doris the cat.
Amanda, Veterinary Technician
Amanda has been working with animals since 1996 and in the veterinary field since 1998. She loves her work because there’s never a dull moment, and there’s always an opportunity to help in one way or another. The most rewarding part of her job is helping animals that have no way of helping themselves and seeing their gratitude after nursing them back to health. She looks forward to learning new things and continuing to offer attention and care to animals at work and at home. When not caring for the animals at work, Amanda is busy caring for her own pets: Munchies, Havok, Ziggy, Jack, Moose, Elvis, Spaz, and Darkie.
Melissa, Veterinary Technician
Melissa has been working in the veterinary since 2006 and joined the Pacific Animal Team in September 2010. She finds working with people and their pets very rewarding and enjoys being able to help animals in need. Melissa currently lives with a terrier mix named "Presley" and a 3-legged cat named "Ziggy".
Cari, Veterinary Technician
Cari has been working in the Veterinary field since 2004, however joined the Pacific Animal Hospital team in May 2011. Since she was a child, Cari has had a passion for animals and their well being. Cari was born and raised in Sacramento, CA, lived in Austin, Texas for 6 years and now currently, resides in the little town of Fallbrook, CA with her husband Walter and her three furry children, "Meike", a 4yr old blue Heeler mix, "Mojo", a 6yr old long haired orange tabby and "Marty", a 6yr old short haired orange tabby. If she had it "her" way she would have many more. She plans to continue working in the Veterinary Field as long as possible, until she goes to school to become a Registered Nurse. When she’s not at work she likes to spend time with her family and friends, going to the beach and go hiking with her husband and her dog.
Shelley, Veterinary Assistant
Shelley grew up in the Midwest and has always held a special place in her heart for helping animals. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in biology and a minor in animal science in 2006 and has been working in the animal field ever since. She joined the Pacific Animal Hospital team in May 2011 and loves devoting her time to helping animals and making sure they live life to their fullest potential. When not at work, Shelley loves to run, read a good book, and spend time relaxing at the beach with her husband, Danny. She has three furry children: Naia, a shepherd mix; Tatum, a boxer; and Izzy, a black and white tuxedo kitty.
Kaitlynn, Boarding Assistant
Kaitlynn started working at Pacific Animal Hospital in May 2011, and this is the first veterinary job she has had. Her mother has been a veterinary technician since 1987, so it was not difficult for her to choose to be in the same profession. Kaitlynn has practically been living at a “zoo” her entire life, so how could she not love working in an environment she is so comfortable with? Kaitlynn’s long-term goals include going to veterinary school to become an equine veterinarian. However, she is just happy to be working around animals and with people who care about them as much as she does. At home, Kaitlynn has six cats, three dogs, four snakes, three turtles, and two fish. In her personal time, Kaitlynn is an inspiring writer and loves reading, music, photography, and just hanging out with her family and pets.
